About Catherine Paterson
Catherine Paterson, she goes by CJ, was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated from Algonquin College in Ottawa in 2006 with her Massage Therapy diploma.
While attending Algonquin College she started to get migraines and suffered from lower back pain. The pain started to affect her school work, driving and concentration. In second year she found she had anxiety issues and was battling depression. It was only after a professor highly suggested she see a massage therapist and chiropractor that she found relief.
It was then that she realized just how powerful hands can be in healing and the difference a therapist can make in someone’s life. It was then she decided she wanted to work with clients that had PTSD, anxiety and depression.
In her spare time CJ is a half marathon runner and loves triathlons. She hopes to do her first marathon and first Olympic triathlon distance in 2016.
After practicing in Beaches for three years, she decided to move to Midtown to be closer to friends, family and Sunnybrook Hospital. In 2007, she started working with post-cancer clients and lymphedema. To date these clients are still referred to her by Sunnybook and PMH. Additionally, she is an ADP authorizer for compression garments.
In 2011, CJ opened The Massage Therapy Studio on Yonge St in the midtown neighbourhood of Toronto, where she ran her wellness clinic for 3 years. In December 2014, she made the call to close her clinic when her mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon cancer and while she was 4 months pregnant with her first child. She moved her practice to Forces of Nature which is just a half block north of her own practice in the Yonge and Eglinton area.
In 2011 CJ did 4 additional massage courses; prenatal massage, postpartum massage, craniosacral therapy and “PTSD & massage”.
During 2013, she updated her lympedema with Dr Vodder schooling and is planning to complete another update as of June of 2016. Also in 2015, she did a massage course in sport injury and sports massage which helped her with her race pace.
She gave birth to her son in June 2015 and has been back to treating clients in Sept 2015 part time only because she is so dedicated and cares so much about her clients. In March 2016 is she has been back full time.
CJ looks forward to helping clients current and new!
